Agilent/HP E1615B 2.4Gb/s ATM/POS Generator/Receiver Module
The Agilent/HP E1615B is a 2.4 Gb/s ATM/POS Generator/Receiver module built for broadband testing. It is also associated with the manufacturer Keysight. The model operates on the VXIbus architecture which is a VME-based instrumentation bus standard. This module uses a C-size two-slot VXI form factor for its physical construction. This module integrates directly into standard VXI-based test mainframes commonly used in industrial automation.
The model delivers a line rate of 2.488 Gb/s matching the SONET OC-48 rate. This rate also corresponds to the SDH STM-16 transmission standard used in broadband networks. It supports ATM cell-based protocols and Packet-over-SONET/SDH or POS frame generation and reception. The module operates as part of the HP/Agilent Broadband Series Test System called BSTS. It is compatible with the E4200A/B transportable BSTS Form-7 chassis and the E4210A/B rack-mount BSTS Form-13 chassis.
The BSTS chassis controller uses a fully embedded PA-RISC processor running the HP-UX operating system. This controller presents test parameters to the operator through an X/Motif graphical interface for configuring this module. The chassis controller also supports LAN and Ethernet connectivity for remote operation of the model. The E1615B is typically used for ATM traffic generation and analysis in broadband test labs. It also performs POS frame generation and analysis for network validation and transmission testing work. It further supports conformance testing at both OC-48 and STM-16 line rates.
