Hioki RM3548 Resistance Meter
The Hioki RM3548 is a high-accuracy, portable resistance meter. It was created to be used for MRO of large-scale electrical equipment in the field as well as in workshops, providing lab-quality accuracy in a rugged, portable configuration. The RM3548 has a high resolution of 0.1 μΩ and an accuracy of ±0.02% for the assessment of extremely low resistances; therefore, it will allow you to check the quality of your electrical connections, windings and grounding paths in all types of electrical equipment.
The RM3548 is packaged with everything necessary to immediately begin testing. These items include a clip-style test lead (L2107), a temperature-sensing probe (Z2002), a USB cable for transferring data from the instrument, a carrying strap and two AA-size batteries. The Resistance Meter uses four-terminal DC measuring techniques to eliminate the effects of lead resistance, thus providing the technician with the highest degree of reliability when taking measurements. Furthermore, the RM3548's powerful measuring current of 1A enables specialists to measure very-low-value resistances in aircraft fuselage bonding, transformer windings, bus bars, and large electric motors in a consistent and reproducible manner. The device also has built-in 70VDC over-voltage protection to safeguard it from accidental short-circuit to a hot circuit or inductive voltage spikes.
For convenience while working in the field, the RM3548 has two important functions: auto-hold and auto-memory. These functions allow the meter to store and record up to 1000 measurements automatically each time you connect probes. On top of these two functions, the device has a number of other functions specifically developed for industrial diagnostic applications. The temperature conversion function utilizes the temperature sensor that comes with the Resistance Meter and allows you to perform temperature-rise tests on motor and transformer windings. It also has an offset voltage compensation (OVC) function that compensates for thermal EMF at test points, allowing you to obtain reliable data. Therefore, due to its portability, long battery life and many useful features, the Hioki RM3548 is an excellent solution for technicians and engineers who have to make reliable micro-ohm through mega-ohm measurements in non-lab environments.
