LitePoint z8651 Vector Signal Analyzer
LitePoint’s z8651 provides a high-performance, PXI/PXIe-based vector signal analyzer (VSA) module for the testing and evaluation of products in laboratory and manufacturing settings. The VSA uses advanced algorithms to analyze and demodulate complex RF signals. The module has a broadband RF input capability of 250 MHz to 6 GHz; supports an instantaneous bandwidth of up to 162.5 MHz; and contains a programmable attenuator and a pre-amplifier that allow users to optimize the dynamic range of their measurement and provide a wide range of reference levels (-50 dBm to +20 dBm), so that measurements can be made at a variety of signal power levels.
Besides its RF capabilities, the z8651 is capable of performing baseband analysis through differential I and Q input connectors. These input connectors will accept a signal from DC to 300 MHz. The module also employs a high-speed, simultaneous sampling 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) system with a maximum sampling rate of 400 MS/s to allow for both time-domain and frequency-domain analysis of the measured signals. The z8651 will also deliver excellent dynamic performance, including a spurious-free dynamic range of greater than or equal to 75 dBc and low phase noise, making it suitable for characterizing the complex signals used in today’s communications systems. The VSA design is well-suited for demodulation and EVM measurements of complex waveforms and includes specific performance characteristics for the IEEE 802.11 a/g/n/ac WLAN standards.
Due to its modular PXI/PXIe instrumentation platform, the LitePoint z8651 can be easily integrated into a variety of automated test systems, allowing for synchronization of multiple devices via backplane triggered signals and timing signals. The Vector Signal Analyzer also includes a number of triggering options as well as trace and reference waveform memory and a number of flexible data processing functions. Therefore, this VSA represents an important solution for wireless transceiver manufacturers to validate and troubleshoot the operation of wireless transceivers, components and modules. Additionally, the speed and accuracy of the z8651 make it an ideal candidate for use in high-volume production testing and sophisticated R&D characterization.
