Keithley 2701 Digital Multimeter
The Keithley 2701 multimeter is a DMM data acquisition and logging system with high speed performance. It provides Ethernet connectivity and dual slot modular expansion architecture. It delivers 80 input channels through compatible switching modules. The internal matrix supports 96 cross-points for flexible signal routing configurations. The mainframe provides two slots for switching modules. The chassis occupies 2U height with half rack width mechanical format. The multimeter unit includes a 450000 reading non-volatile memory buffer and also supports scan rates of 500 readings per second to memory. The bus scan rate reaches 440 readings per second during remote operation. The internal trigger engine of the module sustains 2800 readings per second for deterministic sequencing.
The external trigger interface supports rates up to 2000 readings per second. The DC voltage input provides 1000 V protection across all ranges. The converter architecture achieves 1200000 maximum display counts for high resolution acquisition. The Keithley 2701 supports DC voltage and DC current measurement functions. The instrument performs AC voltage and AC current measurements with integrated conversion control. Two wire and four wire resistance measurements are supported for low resistance applications. Frequency and period measurements extend functionality for signal analysis tasks.
The multimeter measures temperature using thermocouples RTDs and thermistors. The continuity testing and event counting functions are integrated within the firmware. The digital I/O interface enables basic control and monitoring operations. The system architecture supports synchronized acquisition across multiple configured channels. The single channel DC reading rates vary with integration time selection. At 10 NPLC the 6.5-digit mode achieves 5 readings per second. At 1 NPLC the 6.5-digit mode achieves 50 readings every second. These programmable rates balance noise rejection and throughput requirements. The Ethernet interface uses 10/100BaseTX with TCP IP protocol support. The rear panel also includes an RS-232 communication port. The Keithley 2701 is designed for automated validation and test benches. The high count display resolution ensures fine measurement discrimination in low level signals. The multimeter uses protected input design that safeguards the module during high voltage testing operations. The A/D linearity specification is 2 ppm of reading with 1 ppm of range.
