Keysight 53131A Universal Counter
The 53131A is a precision universal frequency and time interval counter from Keysight. This versatile device features a frequency resolution of 10 digit per second and a time interval resolution of 500 picoseconds, making it an excellent choice for bench-top and lower volume automated test applications. Designed with a frequency of up to 225 MHz on Channels 1 and 2, the counter has an optional Channel 3 that expands the frequency up to 3.0 GHz, 5.0 GHz, or 12.4 GHz.
The 53131A offers a wide variety of measurements, i.e. frequency, period, pulse width, duty cycle, rise and fall time, time interval, frequency ratio, totalize, phase, and peak voltage. The 53131A also offers four arming capabilities—auto, external, digits, and time—providing flexibility of arming measurements. The meter is equipped with a GPIB interface, with the ability for the meter to take up to 200 measurements per second, and has a talk-only RS-232 port for data output on printers and external systems.
Some of the most important features include external reference input (1, 5, or 10 MHz), the high-stability oven oscillator as the choice for higher precision, and sophisticated functions such as statistics, limiting testing automatic, and SCPI program ability. The device also offers analog display mode limiting testing, as well as external gating for unique application cases. The 53131A is designed for manufacturing, service, and research uses for which frequency and timing measurements should be precise. Its rugged construction ensures consistent operation from benchtop laboratory settings up to automated test systems. Transit cases, GPIB cable, and printer interface cable represent some of the accessories that can be used for making the device operational. The device is designed according to international safety and EMC standards, like IEC 1010-1 and CISPR-11, for operation under varied conditions.
