Newport 2835-C Multi-Function Optical Meter
Newport 2835-C is a very versatile multi-functional optical device for accurately measuring the signal of a photodetector in an industrial automation environment and in a laboratory setting. This unit can be utilized as a primary control module for a wide variety of detectors from Newport’s line; this includes low-power semiconductor photodiodes, high-power thermopile detectors and energy-sensitive pyroelectric detectors. Calibration is facilitated through proprietary calibration modules that are specifically calibrated to each detector type. Each calibration module stores calibration information specific to the detector being measured and allows for accurate measurement while significantly reducing the amount of time required to set up the system and configure the unit for the detector that has been connected.
The Newport 2835-C has several capabilities when it comes to measuring DC current and peak-to-peak AC current and voltage. These measurements are then converted to direct measurements of the optical power or energy. Complex calculations of additional measurement units such as watts, Joules and dBm are also possible using this device. Other key features of this device include a 5.5-digit high-resolution vacuum fluorescent display, a fast update rate of 10 Hz, and trigger capabilities that allow for either input and/or output connections on BNC connectors. When utilizing this device within an automated system, there are two options for computer interface, GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) and RS-232, allowing for remote control of the device and logging of up to 1000 measurements per channel. Additionally, an analog output is available, providing a real-time voltage representation of the input signal for external monitoring and recording purposes.
