Keysight/Agilent M9514A AXIe 14-Slot Chassis
One 13-slot system module, thirteen individual slots, and 14 slots make up the M9514A AXIe Chassis from Keysight/Agilent. This chassis offers Gen 2 x8 PCIe and Gigabit LAN connectivity and can connect to two additional chassis. Each slot's back contains a distributed trigger network, Gen 2 x4 PCIe, and Gigabit Ethernet in addition to the backplane. In addition, there is a 62-pair local bus allowing significant amounts of data to flow between modules, thus meeting demanding requirements in both high-energy physics and semiconductor testing. An I²C intelligent platform management bus controls the coordinated power-up and cooling of each chassis through an onboard shelf manager.
The M9514A leverages its built-in Multi-Frame Synchronization to synchronize several enclosures together for the building of large-scale aerospace/defense test systems, and it allows for the daisy chaining of up to three chassis, utilizing the front panel x8 PCIe ports on the system module to satisfy scalability demands. This ability also permits seamless integration with PXIe chassis to allow users to create hybrid automated test systems. All slots provide 200W of cooling capacity, allowing the chassis to house high-power digitizers, arbitrary waveform generators, digital instruments, etc. without thermal throttling. The additional benefit of having 62 differential local bus pairs will help accelerate data movement between neighbors (beneficial for signal intelligence and 5G validation).
In order to provide reliable operation under changing ambient temperature conditions, the M9514A utilizes Push-Pull Cooling Architecture, which draws cool air from the front panel and exhausts hot air out of the rear panel, with fan speed adjusting automatically based upon module temperatures. Both front & rear fan trays may be removed when the chassis is still racked into place. Additionally, air filters are easy to replace to ensure adequate airflow. Reducing downtime associated with maintenance, the power supplies are designed to be hot-swappable. Preserving rack space, this design maintains thermal stability across all slots and thus provides a durable foundation for automated test equipment used within semiconductor fabrication, telecommunications research & development, and physics research.
