Keysight/Agilent M9709A AXIe High-Speed Digitizer
The M9709A from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) is a high-speed digitizer and data acquisition (DAQ) card that uses the AXIe modular architecture. It occupies one slot on an AXIe backplane and has 32 fully synchronous digital channels. Each channel can sample at rates of up to 1 GS/s and be used to capture signals over frequency ranges of DC to 300 MHz. Alternatively, with the addition of the -F05 extended bandwidth option, users have access to signal frequencies of up to 500 MHz. Its compact size and large number of available channels make it ideal for use in situations in which there is limited room available for instrumentation and/or when speed of acquisition is paramount.
Each of the four Xilinx Virtex-6 Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), located inside the M9709A, performs real-time processing of captured data along with up to 16 GB of DDR3 acquisition memory, allowing users to acquire and store 512 million samples per channel. The inputs to the M9709A are DC-coupled with a 50 Ω load and offer selectable full-scale voltage ranges of 250 mV to 5 V. In addition, each analog input channel includes an adjustable offset setting that will allow users to adjust the base-line level of their measurements by ±0.5 times the selected full-scale range. Users also have a variety of options available to them to enable synchronization of triggers among all of the analog input channels, including a 15 ps RMS interpolating trigger delay generator.
To reduce user development time, users can utilize the programmable interface capabilities provided by the High-Speed Digitizer within either their current Windows or Linux environment. Additionally, users can pair the M9709A with the U1092A multichannel DAQ software to create scalable system configurations. The digitizer can provide a total of 32 simultaneous analog input channels when installed alone in a two-slot AXIe backplane. However, if additional DAQ capability is required, users may purchase additional modules and install them in other slots on the same backplane. Three of the Keysight/Agilent M9709A's in a five-slot AXIe backplane will provide a total of 96 simultaneous analog input channels. Also, users may opt for even higher levels of multi-channel DAQ capability by installing the M9506A, a five-slot AXIe backplane supported at power supply voltages of 220-240 VAC.
