Keysight/Agilent J2296D E1 BNC Module for the Keysight Advisor
The Keysight's J2296D E1 interface module will connect into Advisor J2300C/D/E mainframes or the J2900A undercradle. It provides a two-port 75-ohm BNC connection for complete and partial 2.048 Mb/sec ATM, Frame Relay, HDLC, SDLC, X.25, ATM DXI, and PPP circuit testing. The four BNC connectors and one RJ-11 handset port allow for terminated and high-impedance bridging monitoring. Line encoding includes HDB3/AMI per G.703 with G.704 framing (CRC-4 optional), unframed mode, and any 64 kb/s fractional channels. Both receive ports collect at full line rates the data collected from both transmit ports into a 64 MB memory with 100 ns timing information.
The J2296D has been designed to monitor as many of the parameters that can be measured on the physical layer. These measurements are based upon LOS, LOF, AIS, RAI, line-code violation, CRC-4 error, frame-alignment fault, and loss of cell delineation. Up to 1024 Virtual Circuits (VCs) may be automatically discovered using the J2296D's ATM analysis capabilities, which then gather the use of each VC, cell count, HEC error, and perform O.191 QoS and policing checks. In addition to these functions, Frame Relay statistical analysis gathers the use of each VC, throughput, and FCS error, verifies the FRF.13 Service Level Agreement (SLA), and measures CIR.
Deep protocol analysis of the J2296D covers all WAN encapsulations. All ATM AAL layers (1 thru 5), signaling protocols, and over 200 upper-layer protocols are also decoded. Capture filters allow for isolating the desired traffic by encapsulated IP address. Display filters help speed up the process of isolating problems.
In addition to providing received signals with recovered clocks, the J2296D's two 75-ohm transmitters have three different modes of operation: internal (+/-20 PPM) or external clocking. Transmitter functions include simulating AIS and RAI alarms, simulating faults on lines or equipment, and generating test traffic that may include shaped ATM cell streams, Frame Relay SLA patterns, and bit error rate sequences (1111, 1010, 1100, PRBS 2^15-1, 2^20-1, and 2^23-1) injected into either the physical layer or ATM cell payload. User-defined test traffic is provided by allowing users to define a 4K-byte BER pattern for transmission into the WAN payload. With this feature integrated into the tester, it allows users to streamline their commissioning and troubleshooting of E1-based networks that utilize legacy ATM and Frame Relay services in telecom and other environments such as industrial control and utilities.
