Keysight/Agilent J2900A High Speed Undercradle
The J2900A from Keysight/Agilent High Speed Undercradle is an additional capability that extends the Keysight Advisor LAN protocol analyzer family of products by offering full-bandwidth WAN and ATM test capabilities. As such, it is able to be attached to either the J3446C/D or J2300C/D mainframes, thus enabling the simultaneous two-port observation of all handshake and delay events associated with network handshakes and all negotiation events between devices on the network. Additionally, the undercradle will support all of the major plug-in modules available for the product line. In doing so, this will provide a single, common platform for identifying and verifying the integrity of complex data transmission paths. Engineers may capture and record both unidirectional and bi-directional flow of information in real time while analyzing their networks. This means that no event may be missed. The modular design of the product enables simple add-on expansion in the field, thus allowing field engineers to easily adjust their test configuration as needed.
The slide-in modules for the J2900A are capable of covering the ISDN (BRI and PRI), T1, E1, E3, DS3, J2, ATM25, and STM-1/OC-3c interfaces. Once populated, the system will capture and completely decode Frame Relay, X.25, HDLC, SDLC, SNA, synchronous and asynchronous PPP, and ATM-DXI traffic. The undercradle will interpret LAN protocols encapsulated over WAN circuits, which allows a total picture of both bridged and routed communications between remote sites. Field engineers utilize the undergrade to verify serial or TDM-based SCADA links, remote telemetry units, and point-to-point inter-facility connections. The J2900A has a fast response time for isolating faults using real-time protocol decodes.
Operating at speeds from 50 bps through 52 Mbps, the J2900A can accommodate many legacy serial interfaces as well as T1/E1 leased lines. When used with the Advisor mainframe, the J2900A provides the user with detailed protocol decodes, BER testing, and real-time statistical reporting to enable documentation of SLA compliance. Since each module can be swapped out individually when necessary, this modular design minimizes capital expense. Also, since there is no need to replace entire analyzers for changing topology requirements, this enables easy migration to newer technologies as well as easier deployment of new broadband backhaul systems. By combining WAN and ATM test functionality within a single portable instrument, this simplifies maintenance operations for both field service personnel and Network Operations Center (NOC) staff.
