Keysight/Agilent J3766A ATM25 Module
The Keysight J3766A ATM25 Module is an interface designed to plug directly into a compatible protocol analyzer mainframe and convert it into a specialized test tool for 25.6 Mbps ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks. The module offers complete ATM25 analysis by allowing users to decode and capture traffic at every level of ATM adaptation layers—AAL-1, AAL-2, AAL-3/4, and AAL-5—as well as signaling information along with numerous higher-layer protocols such as IP, Frame Relay interworking, circuit emulation services, and many others. Additionally, the module includes an advanced filtering engine that enables users to isolate captured traffic based upon encapsulated IP addresses, thereby making it easy to rapidly identify problems in converged voice/video/data environments.
To help users validate Quality of Service (QoS), the J3766A performs O.191-based ATM layer measurements, which enable exact measurements of cell delay variation, cell loss ratio, and cell transfer delay. To further support the validation process, the J3766A also provides traffic contract conformance analysis to ensure that network devices are enforcing policing rules regarding sustainable cell rates and burst tolerances. Users can also emulate UNI signaling off-network to verify switched virtual circuit setup processes, an important feature for validating dynamic connection management processes. After capture operations have been completed, users can take advantage of sophisticated display filters and search tools to analyze their captured data. Continuous statistics logging to disk will allow users to trend performance data over time and meet regulatory auditing requirements.
In addition to providing valuable insight into upper-layer protocol behavior, the J3766A provides valuable physical layer impairment statistics such as header error control errors and loss of cell delineation events that will assist users in isolating cabling or transceiver issues that may be degrading link integrity. Industrial automation applications using deterministic communication via ATM backbones that connect PLCs, I/O stations, and supervisory control systems require this type of troubleshooting capability to maintain continuous uptime. Manufacturers will use this capability to audit network health and troubleshoot faults that may stop production. Automotive and chemical processing plants will benefit from the ability to validate QoS under load. Finally, UNI emulation allows engineers to verify that robotic cells establish SVCs for on-demand bandwidth, which keeps legacy ATM backbones always robust and ensures continuous uptime.
