Keysight/Agilent J6805A Distributed Network Analyzer Measurement Engine
The Keysight J6805A distributed network analyzer measurement engine (ME) is a specialized product for enterprise LAN (local area network) network testing and remote troubleshooting. The measurement engine enables distributed network analysis deployments by providing the means for NOC (network operations center) teams to centrally monitor and troubleshoot performance problems at different locations without having to physically visit those locations. In addition to being part of a distributed network analysis deployment, the measurement engine also includes an embedded processor and embedded network analyzer software. The embedded processor allows for local analysis, while the embedded network analyzer software allows for storing the collected data locally, thereby enabling standalone operation.
The Keysight J6805A distributed network analyzer measurement engine has two 10/100Base-TX test interface ports; these ports utilize an NDIS (network driver interface specification)-based driver and are capable of supporting either two half-duplex configurations or one full-duplex configuration. Additionally, there is a dedicated 10/100Base-TX Ethernet telemetry port that supports all remote command and control communications to the measurement engine. By utilizing the telemetry port for time synchronization via NTP (Network Time Protocol), the measurement engine achieves accurate timing of events when remotely troubleshooting a problem that is time-synchronized with an external NTP server.
Remote access to the Keysight J6805A distributed network analyzer measurement engine is provided through a Windows-based computer running the Keysight network troubleshooting center software. The Keysight network troubleshooting center software provides a scalable architecture for managing multiple measurement engines located throughout an enterprise. The Keysight J6805A distributed network analyzer measurement engine contains an internal power supply that accepts input voltages ranging from 100 to 240 VAC. Also included is a system recovery floppy disk, and it can be deployed as a portable device or mounted in a rack using an optional mounting kit.
Due to its design for remote operation, the Keysight J6805A distributed network analyzer measurement engine does not contain a local keyboard or display. This results in reduced hardware complexity and a smaller physical footprint in the field, where it will be used for continuous network monitoring, SLA (service level agreement) verification, and quick fault identification of campus and enterprise networks.
