Keysight/Agilent J6818A ATM25 Line Interface Module (LIM)
The J6818A from Keysight (formerly from Agilent) is an ATM25 Line Interface Module (LIM) is designed specifically for identifying issues within ATM-based ADSL and 3G mobile backhaul infrastructure networks. It works seamlessly with all J6800A Network Analyzer models, J6801A Distributed Network Analyzer models, and J6802B Distributed Network Analyzer MX models, allowing network engineers to perform deep-level monitoring within both the access network and transport network layers. It also enables network engineers to perform detailed traffic analysis on each circuit that flows through the evolving architecture of their network.
The J6818A can be installed or replaced as part of a hot swap operation so that the current operation may be terminated immediately and a new operation may begin using the newly installed interface. Using dual receivers, the J6818A continuously monitors data transmitted and received from each end of the circuit. Using two electrical output ports, the engineer has the ability to configure different testing scenarios. As a result of its hot swappable feature, if there is an issue with the interface being used for a diagnostic session, it will allow the engineer to replace it quickly without having to terminate the current diagnostic session and power off the device.
The J6818A provides a high degree of flexibility for analyzing various ATM protocols by performing auto-discovery of VPI/VCI pairs on up to 4096 ATM virtual channels. Additionally, it allows for simultaneous AAL-2 and AAL-5 cell/frame reconstruction in real time for selected circuits. Once identified, the user may select which stream(s) should be directed to the analyzer's internal acquisition system via hardware filters keyed to the VPI/VCI value. This will enable full rate capture of cells/frames flowing through each circuit without losing any data. In addition, continuous line status reporting along with detailed real-time statistical information will provide network administrators with complete visibility into network health. Also included in advanced traffic management functions available on this LIM are ATM policing, traffic contract estimates, and one-point CDV measurements taken simultaneously across many virtual circuits. These measurement capabilities are required to verify service level agreements and to identify intermittent faults that occur in ATM transports. The first version of the software provided the mode repeater function capability, and future versions will include additional generation options.
