Keysight/Agilent U4305B PCIe and LTSSM Exerciser
The U4305B Protocol Exerciser is a multi-functional PCI Express 3.0 validation platform designed for use in embedded systems, machine vision, and motion control applications. It is manufactured by Keysight, with the legacy manufacturer of Agilent. This platform is provided in the form of a standard half-length, full-height PCIe card. As such, it will fit into both blade servers and desktop chassis. It emulates both Root Complex (RC) and Endpoint (EP) behaviors at Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 speeds on links ranging from X1 to X16. It also emulates configuration space registers to allow users to perform comprehensive device bring-up using only the U4305B.
This multi-functional platform provides users with the capability of controlling all aspects of the protocol layers, including Transaction Layer Packet (TLP), Data Link Layer Packet (DLLP), and ordered sets. Users have the ability to programmatically inject CRC errors, symbol errors, and poisoned TLP's. A fully automated LTSSM test suite is included, which allows users to cycle through all possible link states automatically and generate detailed reports identifying areas where failures occur during system bring-up. The transceiver equalization control feature also allows users to fine-tune their Gen3 link parameters for optimal signal integrity and compliance testing.
In addition, the U4305B has a built-in "Test Bench" function that tests low power verification by running thousands of L1 sub-state entry/recovery iterations and recording pass/fail results based upon control register operations performed on the board. No manual scripting is required. NVMe storage qualification can be simplified using the optional RC emulation with conformance scripts that removes the need for a separate host when testing solid-state drives. Virtualization testing can scale with emulation of up to five functions, licensed SR-IOV, and MR-IOV support. In addition, all features of the U4305B are controlled via an Intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a Comprehensive Application Programming Interface (API) compatible with TCL, Python, C++, and C#, which will streamline the integration of this product into automated regression workflows. Users may also re-play captured analyzer traces to reproduce exact traffic conditions, which makes the U4305B a core instrument for PCI-SIG compliance, RAS system verification, and equalization tuning across legacy and next-generation PCI-E devices.
