Keysight/Agilent M9336A PXIe I/Q Arbitrary Waveform Generator
The M9336A PXIe I/Q arbitrary waveform generator from Keysight/Agilent features three independent wide-bandwidth channels, all contained in one PXIe slot. It has 16-bit amplitude resolution and a 1.28 GSa/s sample rate (sampling at 1.28 billion samples per second), allowing it to generate signals that have up to 540 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth per channel. This allows it to pair with an external quadrature modulator for generating composite modulation bandwidths up to 1 GHz for validating RF chipsets.
Each differential or single ended output on the M9336A utilize SMB connectors and allow each channel to independently control its own gain, offset, and channel to channel skew at picoseconds. Channels 1 & 2 provide a differential swing of 2Vp-p (peak-peak) when unamplified. Amplifying the third channel increases the differential output to 3.4 Vp-p and a larger common mode offset range. The M9336A also contains the front-panel and PXIe backplane triggers and markers for executing event-based test sequences. Phase-coherent multi-channel stimulation can be achieved by synchronizing up to eight M9336 A modules utilizing the PCH (PXI Express Clocking Hub) option.
Furthermore, the M9336A will be able to autonomously perform complex signal scenarios thanks to its 4GB onboard waveform sequence memory. Using the optional LW1 (Large Waveform Streaming) feature will enable the device to send very large waveforms directly from external storage devices. The arbitrary waveform generator will simplify creating signals using Keysight's Signal Studio, Waveform Creator, or MATLAB. Additionally, the M9336A comes with an IVI driver set, which will allow developers to rapidly integrate with LabVIEW or Visual Studio .NET. The AWG includes a software front panel, which will aid developers in debugging their instrument settings that they have configured via the API.
Engineers developing tests use the M9336A from Keysight/Agilent for creating wide-band I/Q baseband signals used for testing many modern wireless systems such as those for 5G, DOCSIS upstream, and others. The third channel can create synchronized envelope tracking waveforms or control waveforms used for controlling quantum computing. In addition, the arbitrary waveform generator creates high-resolution radar pulse waves and satellite test signals. There is selectable amplitude and phase flatness correction to maintain low error vector magnitude (EVM) and spectral flatness distortion ratio (SFDR) greater than 67 dBc on differential channels, ensuring a clean stimulus is provided to receivers during characterization.
