Keysight/Agilent M9815AS PXI Vector Component Analyzer
The M9815AS PXI Vector Component Analyzer (VCA) is a PXIe module that provides a combined vector network analysis and modulated signal measurements capability over the frequency span of 100 kHz to 26.5 GHz. The VCA replaces the need for engineers to have to utilize a separate vector network analyzer, signal analyzer, and external switch matrix for multi-port characterization of wireless components. In addition, by allowing engineers to measure S-parameters, gain, error vector magnitude (EVM), and adjacent channel power (ACP) in a single automated flow, the M9815AS reduces the complexity associated with performing these measurements. The VCA supports both continuous wave (CW) and modulated stimuli for realistic performance testing of front-end modules, antenna arrays, and beamforming networks. As additional ports are added to the VCA's scalable footprint, the ability to maintain full measurement synchronization and multi-port error correction is preserved.
The VCA has a dynamic range of 140 dB and -144 dBm DANL at 1 GHz, providing accurate representation of faint signals. Each of the two built-in ports of the VCA is capable of utilizing multi-port error correction, and due to its modular PXIe design, it will preserve synchronicity when adding ports. An internal source supplies up to +10 dBm; for modulated stimuli, engineers can supply their own external signal generator or use a PXI vector adapter for EVM and ACP measurements on active devices using real-world modulated stimuli. Additionally, the VCA will support both CW and modulated analysis, making it ideal for characterizing antenna arrays, front-end modules, and beamforming networks in R&D and production environments.
The compact PXIe form factor allows users to easily integrate the VCA into their existing high-throughput automated test systems. With its simple-to-use wizard-based software interface, engineers can quickly set up and execute complex network and spectrum measurements, reducing setup times. Due to the scalable nature of the architecture, the VCA will provide full port synchronicity as additional antenna ports are added while maintaining phase-coherent results. Since the M9815AS combines a vector network analyzer and a signal analyzer in one module, it eliminates all of the cabling, trigger delay, and calibration overhead associated with multi-instrument setups. The result is that engineers can accelerate validation of 5G front-end modules, beamforming arrays, and other advanced multi-port components, allowing them to transition from initial characterization to production validation more efficiently.
