Keysight/Agilent M9122A PXI Matrix Switch
The Keysight M9122A PXI Matrix Switch has an 8 x 32 crosspoint configuration that uses armature relays to configure a 1-wire topology. Designed for use in industrial automation, this matrix will route signals up to 100 volts rms and 2 amps, which is 60 watts/channel. The electromechanical design will provide a reliable means of switching moderate power loads, thus being applicable to automotive electronic testing, aerospace validation, and semiconductor characterization. The Matrix will allow for instantaneous activation of any row-to-column connection, allowing multiple signals to be connected simultaneously.
The typical initial path resistance of the M9122A is only 250 mΩ, and its thermal offset remains below 6 μV to preserve measurement integrity. It will switch in approximately 3 ms, and the 5 MHz bandwidth allows a wide range of test frequencies. High channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground isolation (up to 10^10 ohms @ 25°C and 40% RH) minimizes crosstalk. For easy cabling, a 50-pin D-sub connector is provided as well as optional connector blocks to streamline wiring for high pin count devices. The rated life of each relay is 10^7 low-power operations or 10^5 cycles at full load, ensuring long-term dependable operation.
Users are able to scale the M9122A matrix by linking as many M9122A's together (rows) in order to create larger matrices, such as 16 x 32. The fact that this matrix uses a single wire as its switching mechanism makes it easier to interface with commonly used instrumentation busses. As such, it is possible to expand your test points to meet growing testing needs without needing to redesign the switch infrastructure.
In addition to providing software support through the inclusion of IVI-COM, IVI-C, and LabVIEW drivers, there are also example codes for MATLAB, C/C++, and Visual Studio. An example soft front panel is also provided, which allows the user to manually configure the unit directly from their computer, allowing faster debugging and/or test development. Since it's compatible with both PXI and PXIe hybrid chassis, this unit easily integrates into a high-density rack system.
