Keysight/Agilent M9186A PXI Isolated Single Channel Voltage/Current Source
The Keysight M9186A is an isolated single-channel voltage/current source module for PXI platforms, which utilizes two independent amplifiers, both feeding out to the same output connector. The low-voltage amplifier will produce ±16V at 200mA to measure parametric leakage, bias current, impedance, threshold, and clamp voltage tests on semiconductor I/O pin terminals. The high-voltage amplifier will span -10V to +100V at 20 mA; it is generally used to verify the clamp diode in inductive load drivers. Both amplifiers are capable of operating in four quadrants, which allows the M9186A to be both a source and/or sink of power while continuing to measure the current through the device while maintaining a constant voltage level.
Using 16 bits of digital resolution, the M9186A is able to provide precision within demanding source-measure applications. When acting as an isolated current source, a programmable voltage limit protects devices from excessive voltage. Another key feature of the M9186A is its safety interlock circuitry for the high-voltage amplifier. In the event of an open-loop condition in the safety interlock circuitry, the high-voltage output of the module will immediately be disabled, and all relay contacts will disconnect to prevent potentially hazardous voltage levels from reaching the Device Under Test (DUT). An LED indicator located on the front panel indicates whether the safety interlock circuitry is active or inactive, and this can easily connect to other limit switches located on test fixtures for automated safety mechanisms.
In the areas of industrial automation, semiconductor qualification, and automotive electronics testing, the M9186A facilitates simplified automated parametric measurement, simulated sensor signals, and verification of leakage current. Due to being a completely isolated channel, there is no opportunity for ground loops to interfere with the accuracy of the low-current readings taken from integrated circuits, discrete components, electronic control units, etc. Support for seamless integration into production test systems and R&D test systems is provided via IVI-COM, IVI-C, and LabVIEW G driver software. Also, due to compatibility with various types of connectors such as cPCI, PXI-H, and PXI-1, ease of use in assembling systems is also available. Through providing dual voltage ranges, four-quadrant dynamic operation characteristics, and a reliable interlock mechanism, the M9186A presents a highly precise and safe method of delivering a voltage/current source in today's automated test environments.
