Keysight M9380A PXIe Continuous Wave (CW) Source
To be used in an automated environment (test), the Keysight M9380A is designed as a continuous wave source and is a module that can fit directly into PXIe chassis slot configurations. In general, it will include 3 modules that will operate synchronously: the M9310A source output, M9301A synthesizer, and M9300A frequency reference, which together provide a clean analog signal from 1 MHz to 3 GHz or 6 GHz depending on the license key upgrade. This source is primarily used by aerospace and defense laboratories for LO substitution, interference injection, and testing of wireless components, all of which require reliable operation and a minimum of downtime.
The Keysight M9380A CW source provides an output power level of up to +19 dBm over the frequency range of 1 MHz to 5 GHz and +18 dBm over the entire 6 GHz range. The absolute amplitude accuracy of this device is also ±0.4 dB. When operating at a frequency of 1 GHz with an offset frequency of 20 kHz, the phase noise of this source is –122 dBc/Hz. This enables the user to precisely evaluate receivers and adjacent channels. Additionally, this device suppresses harmonics to levels below –29 dBc when operated at a frequency of 1 GHz and non-harmonics to levels below –70 dBc. The time required to settle after changing frequency using this device is approximately 5 milliseconds. Pulse modulation is capable of providing a >95 dB on/off ratio performance at frequencies greater than 400 MHz with rise times less than 10 ns. The low phase noise and spurious performance characteristics of this device make it well-suited for use as an LO substitute in conjunction with receiver testing. The M9300A reference module provides 100 MHz, 10 MHz, and OCXO outputs through an SMB connector for synchronization purposes.
For software configuration, the M9380A works with IVI drivers and includes a soft front panel to minimize the amount of integration work required for development of automated test scripts. The Keysight IO libraries also reduce configuration complexity, and the one-step installer allows unified management of instrument software. License keys may be upgraded in the field to allow for changes in frequency and/or power without having to return the hardware.
