Keysight/Agilent M9407A PXIe Optical to 4 Port USB 2.0 Hub
The Keysight M9407A Optical USB 2.0 Hub is a PXIe optic hub that allows users to add additional USB connections to their measurement system, in order to allow users to keep control and access to the test point closer than before. Formerly found under the manufacturer Agilent, this Optical Hub extends the user's USB connections by converting the USB interface to an optically linked remote connection, which will enable users to utilize standard USB peripherals and test accessories at a distance from the main controller. The M9407A is built as a 2-slot, 3U PXIe card and supports PXIe and PXI hybrid systems. Each of the four USB 2.0 ports on this card are fully functional for use in remote instrumentation applications.
As an example of how engineers may use the Keysight M9407A, engineers have used it to connect keyboards, mouse, USB video adapters, power sensors, and/or E-call modules at a remote measurement location. Engineers also find the Optical Hub useful in RF test environments, automated validation stations, calibration workflows, and other environments where engineers need to access instruments remotely (i.e., outside of the rack/chassis).
This card has supported data rates of up to 480 Mb/s and is backward compatible with 12 Mb/s and 1.5 Mb/s devices. The optical section of the Keysight/Agilent M9407A utilizes single-mode fiber at 1310 nm, utilizing SC connectors. A two-pair optical cable must be utilized to transport both transmit and receive signals between remote and nearby modules. This design supports stable remote operation by eliminating the necessity of having the controller physically located next to the test hardware. For industrial automation and test engineering teams, the M9407A provides USB connectivity to remote measurement systems, which enables the simplification of instrument access, improved workstation layouts, and controlled testing in distributed PXIe environments.
