Keysight/Agilent M9808A PXIe Vector Network Analyzer
The Keysight M9808A Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) Module is a fully integrated, independent, 2-port PXIe Vector Network Analyzer that measures accurate two-port S-parameters over the frequency range of 100 kHz to 53 GHz. This VNA module will fit within a PXI chassis, allowing engineers to characterize passive devices, amplifiers, mixers, and frequency converter designs using tight multiport margin requirements for precise measurement confidence in both research and development environments as well as production testing.
The M9808A VNA module itself functions independently as a complete two-port VNA; however, it also has a true multiport architecture to synchronize additional modules located in one chassis to allow the configuration of up to 50 ports. The M9808A allows simultaneous triggering of all test ports and provides full multiport error correction, thus providing the ability to measure many ports at once without compromising accuracy. Additionally, the M9808A supports a wide variety of measurements, including spectrum analysis, pulsed-RF measurements, and time-domain reflectometry, thereby expanding the role of the VNA beyond traditional scattering parameter analysis.
The M9808A provides a specified system dynamic range of 95 dB at 100 kHz to 140 dB across the 50 MHz to 6.5 GHz frequency band, with a typical dynamic range exceeding 150 dB. The corrected error terms indicate a directivity of up to 42 dB, a source match of up to 39 dB, and reflection tracking uncertainty as low as ±0.04 dB. As part of creating multiport measurement systems, the M9808A connects to other modules via the Y1730A Cable Kit and S95551B Software to create an active crossbar S-parameter measurement system validated for setups combining up to 17 M980xA-series modules.
High-volume manufacturers use the M9808A to rapidly perform repeatable multiport measurements on tightly tolerant components in their production lines, reducing test cycle times. The PXIe form factor of the M9808A allows it to be easily integrated into density-sensitive rack-and-stack systems while maintaining the required dynamic range and trace noise stability to provide consistent production screening results for RF front-end modules, antenna arrays, and high-speed interconnects operating up to 53 GHz.
