National Instruments NI 9944 Quarter Bridge Completion Accessory

Designed for accurate strain measurement applications, the National Instruments NI-9944 (Part Numbers: 194738-02, 194738-01) Quarter Bridge Completion Accessory (120 Ohm) is a robust and durable module. This attachment can sample up to 50 kS/s across four channels at once and is designed to assist high-speed measurements. It is perfect for applications ranging from high-speed fracture tests to static load or fatigue testing because it continuously feeds data via a Hi-Speed USB interface.

The NI-9944 can measure a wide range of load, force, and torque cells as well as some pressure transducers and the majority of strain gauges because it is compatible with full-, half-, and quarter-bridge arrangements. For quick sensor connection, it has four standard RJ50 connectors. With a crimping tool, attaching sensors is as simple as connecting a PC to a network. The NI-9949 accessory kit provides more versatility by converting RJ50 to 10 screw terminals, and RJ50 cable kits come in a variety of lengths to accommodate varied setup needs. Cable kits with 10 signal wires on one end and an RJ50 connection on the other make custom sensor wiring easier.

As part of the standard NI-DAQmx bundle, the NI 9944 comes with Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) for configuration and testing, LabVIEW SignalExpress LE for real-time measurements, logging, and data visualization, and an API/driver that works with Measurement Studio, LabVIEW, ANSI C, C#, Visual Basic 6.0, and LabWindows/CVI.

With dimensions of 66 mm × 21.6 mm × 22.96 mm (2.6 in. × 0.85 in. × 0.90 in.) and a weight of 32 g (1.1 oz), the NI-9944's compact design allows for system integration. It works in the temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. With a resistor value of 120 Ω, resistance drift of 0.0012 Ω/°C, and 0.1% tolerance at 25 °C, the accessory can support resistors up to 0.25 W in maximum power. For safety, the NI-9944 provides 30 V of overvoltage protection, 60 V of CAT I channel-to-earth ground isolation, and can withstand transient voltages up to 1000 V.
