The National Instruments 783733-01 (NI-9265) is a 4-channel, 16-bit C Series analog current output module engineered for industrial control, actuator driving, and process control applications within CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems. Utilizing dedicated string-type Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) per channel, the module provides a 0 mA to 20 mA sourcing current output range (20.1 mA minimum, 20.6 mA typical, and 21.0 mA maximum full-scale output). It completes a full four-channel update in 9.5 µs, delivering rapid, synchronized signal generation with exceptional inter-channel isolation characterized by a -90 dB crosstalk rating and low output noise of 600 nArm.
Dynamic output performance includes rapid settling times, taking 10 µs to settle to 1 LSB for a full-scale step and 5 µs for a 1 mA step. Capable of driving loop loads up to 600 Ω per channel with a 12 VDC maximum compliance voltage, the NI-9265 operates via an external power supply ranging from 9 VDC to 36 VDC. Under calibrated conditions at 25 °C, it features a typical gain error of 0.11% and offset error between 0.19% and 0.4%, backed by a gain drift of 30 ppm/°C. Power draw is optimized at 230 mW maximum from the chassis backplane and up to 1.4 W from the external supply during active mode, dropping to 10 mW from external power in sleep mode.
Built for harsh industrial environments, the module includes continuous short-circuit protection and overvoltage protection up to ±40 V on all terminals. Front-panel screw-terminal wiring connections accommodate wire rated for 90 °C minimum, secured with a tightening torque of 0.5 N·m to 0.6 N·m. The IP40-enclosed unit operates across an extended temperature range of -40 °C to 70 °C (10% to 90% non-condensing relative humidity) at altitudes up to 2,000 meters, featuring 2,300 Vrms channel-to-earth ground isolation (dielectric withstand tested for 5 seconds). When panel-mounted, the module withstands 5 g RMS operating random vibration (10 Hz to 500 Hz), achieving a Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) of 1,014,487 hours at 25 °C under Bellcore Issue 6 Method 1 standards.
