National Instruments 779521-01 Bridge Analog Input Module
The National Instruments 779521-01 (NI-9237) is a four-channel C Series bridge analog input module designed for use with CompactDAQ and CompactRIO systems. It provides 24-bit resolution and sampling rates of up to 50 kS/s per channel, making it suitable for precise measurements from strain gauges, load cells, torque sensors, and other bridge-based transducers.
The module supports quarter-, half-, and full-bridge configurations with 120 Ω and 350 Ω bridge resistances. Its ±25 mV/V input range and simultaneous sampling across all four channels allow engineers to capture synchronized strain, force, torque, and load measurements without the phase differences associated with sequential sampling. This makes the module particularly useful for dynamic testing of structures, machinery, and vehicles.
Integrated signal conditioning provides excitation for connected bridge sensors, eliminating the need for a separate excitation supply in many applications. The 779521-01 also provides 60 VDC channel-to-earth isolation and 1000 Vrms transient isolation to help protect the measurement system and reduce the effects of electrical interference.
Four RJ50 connectors provide direct connections for compatible bridge sensors. Additional functions such as offset and shunt calibration, along with remote sensing, help maintain measurement accuracy when using longer sensor cables or operating under changing conditions. The module operates from -40°C to +70°C, making it suitable for demanding industrial and outdoor applications.
Typical applications include structural health monitoring, automotive durability testing, aerospace load testing, industrial weighing, and other systems that require accurate measurements from bridge-based sensors. The 779521-01 can also be used with NI 9944 and NI 9945 quarter-bridge accessories to connect RJ50-based inputs to screw-terminal wiring commonly used with strain gauges.
