National Instruments cDAQ-T8203 CompactDAQ Thermal Test Bundle
The cDAQ-T8203 (Part Number: 868171-01) is a high-density, 8-slot, and 32-channel temperature-measurement bundle intended for the most demanding environmental-test applications. This entire system is made up of a cDAQ-9189 Ethernet chassis, 2 high-density NI-9213 C Series thermocouple input modules, and 2 NI-9940 backshell devices, giving it a robust synchronized distributed means of acquiring and measuring precise temperature data in laboratory and real-world environments.
This bundle is intended for thermal chamber testing, thermal cycling, environmental testing/combined environmental testing, and board-level thermal characterization. The base system of the chassis cDAQ-9189 has 8 slots, and uses Ethernet as the interface, giving the system distribution over long distances and synchronization of the data acquisition systems of less than 40 nanoseconds between synchronizing parts. This works well in temperature ranges from -40 to 70 degrees C with the ability for 50g shocks on the chassis, allowing for testing in harsher environments also. Each of the NI-9213 modules included has 16 channels for isolated input for a variety of thermocouple types, from J, K, T, E, R, S, B, and N to C types of thermocouples. The multiplexed sample rate is approximately 74 samples/channel of 24 bit accuracy and these modules also have on-chip cold-junction compensation (CJC) for accurate measurement of the thermocouples. The NI-9940 backshell devices give a secure well protected means of connection to the spring terminals of the modules.
The cDAQ-T8203 bundle has a comprehensive supporting software package. The arrangement has ready interfacing with the FlexLogger Lite program, a free no-programming required program allowing rapid installation of the sensors and easy data logging or with all of the full features of the LabVIEW program for use. For program development, documented APIs and code examples are available for programming languages such as Python, C/C++, etc., giving great flexibility for automated test systems or measurement systems to be built. This integrated hardware/software arrangement makes for ease of wiring, system connections and ease of data acquisition and analysis for thermal validation and reliability testing.
