Featured with a Virtex-5 LX50 FPGA, the National Instruments NI-9154 (Part Number: 782457-01) is an 8-Slot, MXI-Express CompactRIO Chassis. This rugged Chassis is designed for high-channel-count, high-performance applications. With this model, users will be able to add I/O modules from the C Series to an industrial PC or PXI system. A maximum of six NI-9154 Chassis can be daisy chained in a single chain and as many as eight such chains can be connected to a single controller.
The reconfigurable FPGA incorporated in this Chassis has 28,800 flip-flops capacity, 28,800 6-input LUTs, 48 DSP48 slices, and 1,728 Kbits of available block RAM. The NI-9154 is an embedded Chassis with integrated MXI-Express that supports up to 7 m maximum cable length. As far as its power requirements are concerned, this Chassis is designed to operate over a broad voltage input range, i.e., 9 VDC to 30 VDC. The NI 9154 MXI-Express RIO consumes 12.0 Watts of power without any I/O module in service and 20.5 watts of power with all 8 installed I/O modules in service.
The NI-9154 has a power connector to which a user can connect both a primary (V1) and a secondary power supply (V2). Usually, the Chassis operates from V1 input and switches over to the V2 input if the voltage levels to V1 is insufficient. This Chassis features two ports, including 1 MXI Express Upstream Port and 1 MXI Express Downstream Port. To reset the BIOS and the CMOS, there is a CMOS reset button provided on the back side of the model.
