777097-01, 8 Analog Input Channels, 2 Analog Output, PCI-1200 Multifunction DAQ
National Instruments 777097-01 Multifunction I/O Board
The 777097-01 is the identifying part number for the PCI-1200, a low-cost multifunction analog, digital, and timing device by National Instruments. Designed for high-performance data acquisition and control applications in laboratory testing, production testing, and industrial process monitoring and control, this multifunction I/O board is part of the PCI Series.
Eight analog input (AI) channels—eight single-ended and four differential—are available on the 777097-01. It has two 12-bit D/A converters (DACs) with voltage outputs, a 12-bit successive-approximation A/D converter (ADC), 24 lines of TTL-compatible digital I/O (DIO), and three 16-bit counter/timers for timing I/O (TIO). Because of these features, it can be used in a wide range of applications where precise data collecting and control are necessary.
You can use an NI application development environment (ADE) or other ADEs to program the 777097-01. To fully utilize the advantages of the board, a comprehensive library of functions available via the ADE is provided by the NI-DAQ software that comes with the device. Due to its complete software adjustable nature and compliance with PCI Local Bus Specification, Rev. 2.2, the 777097-01 ensures that the device resources are automatically allocated by the system.
With two analog output channels at the I/O connection, this multifunction I/O board can be configured for either bipolar (–5 to +5 V) or unipolar (0 to 10 V) output. Both straight binary and two's complement coding schemes are available for each DAC. A bipolar range (–5 to +5 V) or a unipolar range (0 to 10 V) is an option for the analog input configuration, which is also highly adaptable. For bipolar range inputs, two's complement coding is advised; –5 V is equivalent to F800 hex (–2,048 decimal), and +5 V is equivalent to 7FF hex (2,047 decimal).
The 777097-01 supports three input modes: referenced single-ended (RSE), non-referenced single-ended (NRSE), and differential (DIFF). Differential configurations use four channels, and single-ended configurations use eight. A digital control logic chip and the MITE PCI interface chip are part of the board's interface circuitry. The digital control logic chip links the MITE PCI interface with the remainder of the device, whereas the ASIC chip, MITE PCI interface, was created by NI for data collecting purposes.
