The part number 778833-01 from National Instruments is the identifying part number for the PCI-6528 48-channel digital I/O device with Solid-State Relay Outputs. This digital I/O features 24 Sink/Source inputs allowing the device to draw current from external devices and source current to devices connected to it. This device also features 24 Sink/Source outputs providing a ground path for the current flowing through an external load connected to it as well as providing current to external loads.

Among other features, the 778833-01 features a digital filtering technique using optocouplers that help eliminate glitches at the input of the I/O device. The device can also monitor changes on selected input lines or all input lines using the Change Detection feature. When a change occurs at the input the 778833-01 generates an interrupt notifying the NI-DAQ driver software which then displays it for the user to observe. Using the +5 V line the 778833-01 device allows you to use it as a TTL-level output device with non-isolated power.

The 778833-01 provides a maximum of 60 Volts DC or 30 Vrms at the output channels and can provide up to 150 mA of current. If all relays are drawing 150 mA at 60 Volts DC the power dissipation of this I/O device is approximately 20 Watts. The maximum time it takes for the relay outputs to transition from its initial to set energized state is 5ms and the maximum time it takes to reset to its original state is also 5ms making it super fast. In the case of system failures, all the critical outputs are set back to their original states using the watchdog timer feature supported by the NI-DAQ driver software. Users can also use the NI-DAQ software to
program the 778833-01 using LabVIEW or LabWindows™/CVI™.

The 778833-01 has a compact design with dimensions of 17.5 cm × 10.7 cm (6.9 in. × 4.2 in.) and weights approximately 107.7 g (3.8 oz). This I/O device is tested per the IEC-60068-2-1 and IEC-60068-2-2 standards and should always be operating in an environment with a temperature of less than 55 °C for optimal performance. This product also meets the IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA 61010-1 safety standards making it suitable for laboratory use.
