One Stop Systems OSS-539 PXI Express Network Interface Card
The OSS-539 Ethernet network interface card (Part Number: 787085-01) from One Stop Systems is a high-density solution that integrates into an existing PXI Express or CompactPCI Express system. This 3U form factor module has a bandwidth of 10 Gbps and four SFP+ optical ports, which are driven from a pair of Intel 82599 controllers that provide increased network bandwidth to the mainframe backplane. This module is designed to offer assured high-speed data connectivity in demanding industrial and embedded computer environments where conventional networks are inadequate. The architecture of the module supports a Gen3 x8 PCI Express link, allowing low latency and high throughput in the data-intensive applications typical of PXI Express requirements, making it another essential part of any system expansion and a necessary building block for any external communications needed.
This Ethernet interface card is primarily used to off-load large data files from a PXI Express system into external network storage or servers for near real-time processing and archiving of data. The device also provides the capability to swap and collate data from different chassis together, which is essential in automated test, data acquisition and signal processing systems. The OSS-539 is particularly useful in such applications as defense electronics, telecommunications test beds and scientific research, where rapid movement of sensor data or instrumentation results is necessary. The module supports jumbo frames and also supports I/O virtualization, further enhancing performance in large complex multi-system environments.
The installation of the OSS-539 is a simple matter and consists of simply fitting the card into any spare available peripheral slot in the compatible PXI Express chassis, connecting to the network via SFP+ network cables, and installing the appropriate drivers. This card is designed for system fitted compatibility and requires no special fitting procedures. Driver support is available in many of the most modern Windows operating systems, enabling the module to be automatically recognized and configured. Ongoing link status, activity, etc., can be gleaned from the use of front panel LED's which provide simple yet useful indicators of system performance. The OSS-539 has undergone testing for CE approval and FCC approval and meets essential industrial electrical standards for electromagnetic compatibility as well as safety requirements for operation in potentially electrically noisy environments.
