National Instruments PCIe-8255 Frame Grabber Device

The PCIe-8255 (Part Numbers: 779679-01, 194213B-01L) is an IEEE 1394 interface designed for PC-based systems. The centers associated with any of the ports permit procurement from different cameras. The PCIe-8255 contains advanced I/O lines to synchronize vision parts, including cameras, shots, and lights. They additionally contain quadrature encoder inputs, item choice lines, and universally useful computerized I/O to speak with actuators, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and programmable automation controllers (PACs). The NI PCIe-8255 and the IIDC 1394-based Digital Camera Specification enable the user to indicate a specific area of dynamic pixels and lines on a camera to reach. Much of the time, determining a smaller obtaining window will build the most extreme edge rate of the camera. Substantial obtaining windows and their comparing outline rates are characterized by the camera. The PCIe-8255 is equipped with 2 ports, with speeds of 100, 200, 400, or 800 Mb per second. Additionally, it has 2 TTL inputs, 10 TTL outputs, with 13 optically isolated inputs and 4 optically isolated outputs.

Behind the advanced I/O of the NI PCIe-8255, there is an FPGA which has been preconfigured with the required usefulness for most regular machine vision assignments. In any case, the FPGA module is client configurable with the LabVIEW FPGA Module. RIO enables the user to create custom FPGA rationale to include activating, beat width balance signs, or custom correspondences conventions to the machine vision application. Trigger sources of information are accessible from both TTL inputs and detached information sources. The user can utilize these trigger contributions to synchronize the NI PCIe-8255 with an outside source. The NI PCIe-8255 can utilize this contribution to start coordinated pulse for camera control, lighting control, encoder squeeze checking, and result output timing. The frame grabber device has a power requirement of 18 W.

The PCIe-8255 is run using the NI VISION driver software which can be programmed using software packages like LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI. The NI device weighs 4.59 lb, and measures 4.4 x 6.6 in. in physical dimensions.

PCIe-8255 End of Life Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
