National Instruments 777073-01 PCI-GPIB Interface Controller
NI's 777073-01 is a PCI-GPIB IEEE 488.2 interface card for desktop PCs that use the PCI bus to connect GPIB devices. It uses two different Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), NI PCI-MITE and TNT Family, for full compliance with PCI Specification 2.1. The card can be configured through Plug-N-Play (PNP) or complete software configurability. Users do not have to manually set jumpers or switches on the card when installing it. The TNT Chip controls all of the core IEEE 488 talker, listener & controller functions as they are described by all revisions of the IEEE 488 standard. Therefore, the 777073-01 is a good choice for any test and measurement application where you want to communicate with GPIB-enabled devices.
The 777073-01 achieves continuous data transfer speeds greater than 1.5 megabytes per second (MB/s) utilising the IEEE 488.1 Three-Wire Interlocked Handshake Protocol. In situations where higher speed is needed, the 777073-01 will support the HS488 non-interlocked handshake protocol for speeds above 7.7 MB/s. As both of these modes are supported on the same board, this makes the 777073-01 suitable for applications that require high-speed data acquisition from GPIB-connected devices. The PCI-GPIB connects easily with many types of GPIB-enabled instruments common in automated test systems, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters and spectrum analysers.
The PCI-GPIB part number 777073-01 comes with the NI-488.2 Driver Software, which allows developers to program the GPIB device communications using a standardised interface available to several development environments, including LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI.
