National Instruments GPIB-1014D GPIB Interface for VMEbus

The GPIB-1014D serves as a high-performance IEEE-488 GPIB Interface designed and developed for VMEbus. The device GPIB-1014D is created by National Instruments. If installed on a VMEbus based computer, the GPIB Interface can be used to control engineering, scientific, and medical instruments compatible with the IEEE-488 standard. The NI GPIB-1014D has the conformance certification against all the codes, conventions, and requirements of the ANSI/IEEE 1014-1987 standard.

The National Instruments GPIB-1014D includes dual independent interfaces of IEEE-488. The IEEE-488 interface has the ability to act as controller, listener, or talker. This capability is available on each IEEE-488 interface if two separate NEC µPD7210 GPIB TLC chips are used. The NI GPIB-1014D can monitor the status of all GBIP control lines for each interface. The only limiting factor in GBIP is the response time of the listener regarding the transfer speed. The transfer speed of this GPIB Interface can be increased up to 500 kbytes/s. The contributing factors of increasing the transfer rate of the interface include the VMEbus memory read response time, the response time of the GBIP listener, as well as the transfer mode. The power requirement for the NI GPIB-1014D is +5 VDC with a maximum current of 2.9 A.

The GPIB-1014D can be used in multiprocessor applications. The P1 and P2 connectors in VMEbus are used to interface between the GPIB Interface and VMEbus backplane. The National Instruments GPIB-1014D can be operated within a wide temperature range from 0° to 70° C.
