National Instruments GPIB-1394 GPIB Controller for FireWire

The GPIB-1394 is a GPIB Controller by National Instruments. The NI GPIB-1394 is designed to connect with an IEEE 1394 FireWire port. The result is a functional IEEE 488.2 Controller which can control as many as 14 programmable GPIB instruments. This controller can be ordered under the part number 777738-01. The NI GPIB-1394 can be used with LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio software as recommended by National Instruments. This GPIB Controller operates with the NI-488.2 driver software and can be installed on Windows Me/98 operating systems.

The GPIB-1394 can be optionally rack-mounted. This GPIB Controller is designed specially to transform a PC into a fully featured controller through an IEEE-1394 port. This GPIB Controller is small so it can be utilized for portable applications involving PCs without input/output slots. The NI GPIB-1394 can be used easily and installed due to the hot-pluggable feature. The National Instruments GPIB-1394 interface is automatically recognized and configured by the operating system when it is linked to a 1394 port on a computer.  

The NI GPIB-1394 helps the user save time when designing module control applications. The GPIB-1394 employs the full functions of a GPIB controller, including the functions necessary and suggested by IEEE 488.2. This Controller additionally has regular and extended Listener and Talker, service requests, serial and parallel polling, and pass/receive control functions. This GPIB Controller has multiple transfer rate options, such as S100 (100 Mbits/s), S200 (200 Mbits/s), and S400 (400 Mbits/s). The NI GPIB-1394 has 3 standard 6-pin sockets as input/output connectors for the IEEE-1394 ports, along with a standard 24-pin GPIB port.
