The National Instruments 788302-100 is a high-bandwidth, 100-meter fiber optic MXI-Express cable designed for ultra-long-distance remote control of PXI Express chassis from a host PC or master controller. Compliant with PCI Express Gen3 x8 communication standards, the cable delivers high-speed x8 data throughput across its entire 100 m (328 ft) length, enabling complete galvanic isolation and remote chassis placement far beyond the reach of standard copper cables. Because the optical link transparently passes PCIe bus signals, host controllers maintain low-latency, deterministic control over remote PXI Express instrumentation without requiring additional driver configurations or protocol translation hardware.

Engineered with high-grade optical fiber cores encased in an abrasion-resistant polymer jacket, the 788302-100 provides high mechanical durability while inherently eliminating ground loops and electromagnetic interference (EMI) in electrically noisy industrial environments. Each end terminates in a precision MXI optical connector equipped with protective dust caps to prevent optical face contamination during storage, transit, and handling. Designed for repeated connection cycles with minimal insertion loss, the assembly supports synchronized, multi-device data acquisition and signal processing across distributed test systems.

The 788302-100 operates reliably across an ambient temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C (-20 °C to 70 °C storage), making it ideal for laboratory, factory automation, and isolated hazardous-environment testing setups where host processing hardware must remain isolated from the primary PXI Express test chassis.
