National Instruments PCI-5401 Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator
The National Instruments PCI-5401 (Part number: 777949-01) is an arbitrary function generator device manufactured by National Instruments. This model can generate 16 MHz sine waves. The NI PCI-5401 has 12 bit resolution. This model provides virtual instrument solutions. The virtual instrument solutions (VIS) are generated by a computer when the NI PCI 5401 is merged with the capability and power of an arbitrary generator with the flexibility and benefits of a computer.
The PCI-5401 is structured with the direct digital synthesis (DDS) system, which generates accurate standard waveforms. The generated waveforms are monotonous in nature. Direct digital synthesis can generate sine and TTL waveforms, as well as square and triangular waveforms. The NI PCI-5401 can store up to 16384 number of waveform samples and several frequency steps. The frequency steps are stored in the instruction FIFO, with a range up to 512. The NI PCI-5401 has analog voltages. The AV’s are generated by the 12-bit DAC and pass from a low pass mesh and amplification/attenuation scheme. This helps maximize the dynamic range. The National Instruments PCI-5401 Arbitrary Waveform/Function Generator can operate at 40 MS/s frequency.
The NI PCI-5401 can be operated with the NI-FGEN driver through MATLAB® and Instrument Control Toolbox™. It acts as a single software environment, which can control, configure, and create waveforms with these instruments. The toolbox helps NI-FGEN devices that are using NI-FGEN driver version 2.7.2 or higher. MATLAB helps make data visualization and analysis easy. It can perform tasks like statistical analysis and signal processing, along with curve fitting and digital filtering. The NI PCI-5401 is used to develop graphical interfaces. This model enables users to collect and analyze data for automated testing needs.
PCI-5401 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
