National Instruments 779383-01 Universal AC/DC PXI Chassis
The National Instruments 779383-01 (PXI-1036) is a six-slot 3U PXI chassis with an integrated AC/DC power supply. It accepts 100–240 VAC or 11–30 VDC input power, allowing the chassis to be used with a variety of power sources in laboratory, industrial, and field environments.
The chassis backplane supports 3U PXI and CompactPCI modules, including 5 V and universal PXI-compatible hardware. The P1 connectors follow CompactPCI specifications, while the P2 connectors provide dedicated PXI timing and trigger lines. A dedicated star-trigger slot and PXI trigger lines support synchronization between modules for applications that require coordinated operation. The backplane provides up to 132 MB/s of system bandwidth.
The six-slot configuration provides one controller slot and five peripheral slots, allowing the chassis to accommodate an embedded PXI controller along with additional measurement, data acquisition, or control modules. Its compact form factor provides a balance between expansion capacity and portability.
Thermal management is handled by an automatically controlled fan with auto and high-speed modes. The fan adjusts its speed according to intake temperature to reduce noise during lower-load operation. Forced-air cooling provides up to 30 W of cooling capacity per slot to help maintain stable operation under higher loads. A front-panel standby switch provides convenient control of chassis power.
The 779383-01 measures approximately 6.97 × 10.12 × 8.38 inches and weighs less than 12 lb. Its compact size makes it suitable for benchtop applications, while rack-mounting capability allows it to be integrated into standard 19-inch test systems. An optional carrying handle is available for applications that require the chassis to be transported between test locations.
