The National Instruments PXIe-1071 (Part Number: 781368-01) Chassis is an instrument designed for a broad spectrum of test and measurement applications. This model has a high-bandwidth backplane. The compact and lightweight form factor makes minimization of the footprint of installations easy, making it suitable for desktop or portable use cases. The device has a maximum system bandwidth of 3 GB per second.

The PXIe-1071 National Instruments integrates a 4-slot PXI Express backplane. The NI PXIe-1071 Chassis accepts 3U PXI Express, Compatible PCI Express, and hybrid slot-compatible PXI-1/CompatiblePCI modules. These modules include: x4 PCI Express link directly connected to the system slot from each hybrid slot and 32-bit, 33MHz PCI connected to each hybrid slot. It also accepts 4-slot wide PXI Express embedded controllers. The PXI express system can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

The PXIe-1071 Chassis is a rugged Chassis which comes with a universal AC input. This model features an auto/high temperature-controlled fan speed that minimizes audible noise. It is rack mountable and offers an optional carrying handle which enhances portability.

The NI PXIe-1071 Chassis features optional equipment such as EMC filler panels, rack mount kit, slot blockers, and a handle/feet kit. A rack mount kit enables the user to mount the NI PXIe 1071 on a 19-inch instrument cabinet. The slot blockers function for optimized thermal performance when some slots are not in use. The handle and rubber fit kit makes portability easier. All optional accessories are available from National Instruments.

The PXIe-1071 Chassis meets the cooling requirements of the most power-demanding PXI modules (it has a cooling capacity of 38.25 W per slot), with an option to choose between AC and DC power. It has an AC input voltage range of 100 to 240 VDC, an input frequency of 50/60 Hz, and an input current rating of 4-2 A. The device has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, and a storage temperature range of 40 to 71 °C. This model has non-rack dimensions of 177 mm (h) x 257mm (w) x 214mm (d), and weighs 13.1 lbs.
