National Instruments 784191-01 PXI Data Storage Module
Part Number 784191-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments HDD-8261 PXI Data Storage Module. The 784191-01 uses a Marvel 88SE9485 SATA chipset as the mainboard. The total storage capacity of the module is the sum of storage of rotating media(4 x HDD which can reach sizes of 4 TB or greater) and solid-state media (6 x SSD which can reach sizes of 2.8 TB or greater). The module uses the Serial-ATA 3.0 interface.
The 784191-01 is used for high-speed streaming applications as it offers high in-chassis data streaming rates and storage capacities. It uses software RAID combined with HDDs for capacity or SSDs for bandwidth. The module offers read and write speeds of up to 2 GB/s for the SSD drive and up to 250 MB/s for 80% of the striped array (RAID 0) capacity across all four drives in the HDD drive. To achieve the best throughput, you should configure a striped volume across all volumes of the drives of the module using disk management.
The 784191-01 dimensions measure to three-slot 3U PXI Express module, equating to (2.4 × 5.1 × 8.5 in.). The module requires one PXI Express module slot plus two module expansion slots and is compatible with the CompactPCI Express spec component. The total weight of the module is the sum of the weight of 1 TB x 4 HDDs, equating to 750 g, and 400 GB x 6 SSDs, equating to 740 g. The ambient temperature range for the storage media in the 784191-01 is different.
The rotating media (HDD) is to be operated in temperatures from 5 to 50 °C while the solid state media (SSD) should be operated between 0 to 50 °C. The ambient relative humidity must be 10% to 90%. On the other hand, the rotating media can be stored between -40 to 65 °C while the solid-state media can be stored between 40 to 71 °C. The optimal relative humidity for storage is 5% to 95%. Furthermore, the device is designed only for indoor use and within a maximum altitude of 2000 m.
