National Instruments PXI-2566 Relay Module

The National Instruments NI PXI-2566 (Part Numbers: 778572-66, 778573-66) is a 2 A, 16-Channel, SPDT based PXI Relay Module designed for general purpose applications. This module features SPDT Form C armature relays. The relays utilized in this module are non-latching with low thermal offsets and extremely low on-resistance. The NI PXI 2566 is considered an ideal module for the controlling, routing, and switching of high-current signals. Each relay channel comes with a normally open (NO), normally closed (NC), and common (COM) terminal. The device has a switch bandwidth of 70 MHz. Part number 778573-66 is the 60V version of the PXI-2566.

With this module, the user can achieve either 16-SPDT (non-latching) or 8-DPDT topology. As far as its input characteristics are concerned, the National Instruments PXI 2566 offers 150 V DC, 125 V AC maximum switching voltage (channel-to-channel) and 150 V DC, 125 V AC, CAT I1 maximum switching voltage (channel-to-ground). Since it is a Measurement Category I rated module, the PXI-2566 is designed to carry signal voltages no more than 150 V. However, it has an integrated protection mechanism and can withstand safely up to 800 V impulse voltage.

This PXI Relay Module offers 60 W, 62.5 VA (DC to 60 Hz) maximum switching power, 2 A DC, 2 A AC maximum switching current, and allows the parallel operation of 16 channels while operating at maximum switching current. The relays used in the NI PXI 2566 module have 2 ms (typical), 4.4 ms (maximum) relay operate time, and 115 cycles/s maximum cycle speed. By design, this model is a 3U, one slot, PXI module that weighs around 250 g (9 oz), and measures 8.5 x 0.8 x 5.1 in. in physical dimensions. It has a male, 62-pin D-SUB I/O connector and consumes 4.5 watts of power at 5 V, and 2.5 W at 3.3 V.

The PXI 2566 has an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C, a storage temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C, a non-condensing humidity range of 5% to 85%, operating and non-operating random vibrations of 0.3 grms and 2.4 grms respectively–all at a frequency range of 5 Hz to 500 Hz.
