The National Instruments 778572-12 (or PXI-2512) is a top-quality fault insertion unit (FIU) designed for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications and electronic reliability tests. It features 7 x channels with 2 x fault bus lines that allow you to simulate different fault conditions. This module is ideal for validating control systems like engine control units (ECUs) and full authority digital engine controls (FADECs) by using the LabVIEW Real-Time Module.

Each channel of the 778572-12 module can handle a maximum switching voltage of 50 VDC or 30 V ACrms (CAT I). The module supports a continuous current of up to 10 A per channel, with a pulsed current capability of 50 A for 600 μs max. The maximum switching power per channel is 500 W. The DC path resistance is typically 16 mΩ, with a maximum of 35 mΩ. It has a bandwidth of over 800 kHz. The module also includes overcurrent detection with a limit of 10.5 A and a delay of 20 ms that provides protection against current surges.
