The National Instruments 785571-01, or PXIe-7868R PXI Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Module, is a high performance tool designed for demanding applications requiring precise timing, advanced data acquisition and custom signal processing. Equipped with a user programmable Kintex-7 325T FPGA, this module offers unparalleled flexibility in processing and controlling I/O signals directly at the hardware level. The FPGA allows for real-time processing that makes it ideal for tasks such as hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, custom communication protocols and high speed control systems.

The 785571-01 module has 48 Digital I/O channels divided across two connectors that support maximum frequencies of 10 MHz and 80 MHz, respectively. These channels are compatible with LVTTL and LVCMOS logic levels and offer programmable direction control per channel. The module also includes robust protection features that include overvoltage and overcurrent protection.

This multifunction reconfigurable I/O features six analog input channels each utilizing a 16 bit successive approximation register (SAR) ADC capable of sampling at rates up to 1 MS/s per channel. The inputs can be configured in differential (DIFF), non referenced single ended (NRSE) or referenced single ended (RSE) modes. The input range is software selectable with options from ± 1 V to ± 10 V. The high input impedance and low bias current further enhance measurement accuracy while robust overvoltage protection safeguards the module against signal spikes.

The NI 785571-01 model provides 18 single ended channels for analog output, which each have 16 bit resolution and a maximum update rate of 1 MS/s. The output range is fixed at ± 10 V with low output impedance and short circuit protection that makes it suitable for driving precise control signals in feedback loops or simulating sensor outputs. The DAC architecture based on an enhanced R-2R ladder ensures accurate and stable output voltages.

Synchronization and data transfer are managed through multiple onboard resources including a 40-200 MHz timebase and 16 DMA channels. The onboard DRAM with 512 MB of memory supports high speed data streaming up to 800 MB/s. The module’s compatibility with PXI Express slots and its compact design make it an excellent choice for a wide range of automated test and measurement systems.
