National Instruments PCIe-7857 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device
Featured with 1 MS/s sampling rate, 512 MB DRAM, and an integrated Kintex-7 160T user-programmable FPGA, the NI PCIe-7857 (Part Number: 786458-01) is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device. This device has a PCI Express bus connector and comes with 8 analog input channels, 8 analog output channels, as well as 48 bidirectional digital channels.
There are also two connectors: Connector 0 (for 16 low-speed channels) and Connector 1 (for 32 high-speed channels). The low-speed digital channels offer up to 10 MHz maximum signal frequencies, whereas the high-speed channels can handle up to 80 MHz signal frequencies. Each of the two digital connectors comes with selectable logic levels and can be configured as either input or output.
This Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device comes equipped with an integrated onboard flash memory. Users can have their FPGA bit file stored in the flash memory by using NI MAX. The digital input/output channels of the NI PCIe-7857 come with built-in protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, and undervoltage. Each of the eight analog output channels also has an AO pin and AOGND pin. Thus, loads can be connected to analog outputs. Moreover, the user can additionally connect floating or differential sources to the NI PCIe 7857 device.
This device is superior to typical data acquisition devices because it is an enclosed module which provides extra protection. The PCIe-7857 also offers specialized functionality, such as individual channel triggering. Another valuable feature of this device is the capability for direct streaming of data from the NI PCIe-7857 to other PCIe modules.
