Featured with 8, 16-Bit Analog Inputs, and 8 DIO, the National Instruments PCI-6143 (Part Number: 778913-01) is a Multifunction I/O Device with simultaneous-sampling capabilities. This device offers two 24-bit counters, digital I/O, as well as digital triggering. The NI PCI-6143 is widely considered in challenging applications, such as ultrasonic testing, high energy physics, multi-axis control, ballistics, and testing around highly transient signals.

With this module, the user will be able to achieve a sample rate of up to 250 kS/s per channel, and an input range of ±5 V. Each of the 8 differential analog input channels incorporated in this device have a dedicated, 16 bit resolution ADC. This architecture provides a much better transfer rate in comparison to the traditional DAQ devices where the sampling rate is shared among active channels and the net data throughput remains the same. In the PCI 6143 NI, the overall throughput reciprocates the number of channels in service. For applications where multichannel simultaneous controlling is required, the NI PCI-6143 can be used in conjunction with the NI 6733. This arrangement results in the construction of a high-performance yet low-cost control solution. The device has 2 counter/timer I/O lines with a resolution of 24 bits and a frequency of 20 MHz. It is equipped with a 68-pin VHDCI I/O connector. It is run using the NI-DAQmx driver software.

This Multifunction I/O Device features a 2,046 samples analog input FIFO buffer size and supports DC input coupling. The 8 Digital I/O channels available on the National Instruments PCI 6143 are TTL/CMOS compatible and they resume "Input (high-impedance)" state when powered-on. This device has a PCI Bus Connector, Bus Powered Supported Power Input, and does not have analog input isolation as a feature. It has a power requirement of 40 mA at 5 VDC, 140 mA at 3.3 VDC, 150 mA at 12 VDC, and 80 mA at -12 VDC.

The NI device measures 6.10 x 4.17 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes, an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and should be used indoors only.
