National Instruments 776571-04 12-Slot Signal Conditioning Chassis
The 4-slot SCXI-1001, specifically part number 776570-07, is a Signal Conditioning Chassis that offers a platform for industrial data acquisition systems. In addition to being capable of supporting input voltage levels of 100/120/220/240 VAC @ 50/60 Hz, the chassis may be configured to support global usage without having to physically modify hardware. The operating currents range from 0.75A @ 240VAC down to 1.75A @ 100VAC, and it supports the use of true sine-wave DC-to-AC inverters for both off-grid and mobile applications.
At its center is the SCXIbus, which is an electrically isolated analog and digital backplane that will automatically connect with any SCXI module that has been installed into the chassis. It controls all aspects of data collection such as routing signals, transferring data, controlling module operation, and synchronizing the timing between active modules and the associated DAQ instrument. All control functions are performed by onboard control circuitry on a "real-time" basis, allowing each chassis to perform up to 333 kS/s (kilosamples/sec.) of analog inputs, regardless if they operate alone or in combination with other chassis.
One of the major strengths of the NI 776571-04 is its ability to scale. When there are more than the number of channels required by a single chassis, multiple units may be chained together with a single multifunction DAQ device, providing a maximum capability of 3072 channels when chaining up to eight chassis. The chassis is compatible with both E Series and Basic multifunction DAQ instruments and may also be controlled via either the NI-DAQ or NI-SWITCH software drivers. Because identical function calls are provided to the user for controlling the NI 776571-04 as would be made available with a single DAQ device, integration complexity is reduced and expansion of industrial measurement and control systems is facilitated.
