National Instruments PCI-485/8 Serial Interface
The NI PCI-485/8 (Part number: 777641-08) Serial Interface comes with ground loops, which are current flowing over the ground line when the levels of the ground voltage are different among the associated gadgets, these are a common problem in many similar applications. On RS485, this problem comes with a common voltage mode produced by the distinction in ground levels or caused by the existent noise on the two lines.
