National Instruments 780108-01 Multifunction I/O Device
National Instruments part number 780108-01 is an identifying part number for the USB-6216 a Multifunction I/O Device. This device is ideal for a variety of test and measurement applications. This device is suitable for academic labs, data acquisition, portable data logging, and instrument design and testing. It is compact and portable, featuring 16 single-ended analog input channels that can also be configured as 8 differential channels. These channels offer a sampling frequency of 400 kS/s and have 16-bit ADC resolution.
Additionally, the device includes 2 analog output channels and 32 bidirectional I/O channels for enhanced connectivity options. The 780108-01 USB Device has two general-purpose timer/counters with 32-bit resolution. The maximum internal base clock frequency for these timers is 80 MHz. It also includes a frequency generator channel with base clocks of 10 MHz and 100 kHz. The device can withstand continuous voltage of up to 60 VDC between the channel and earth ground and can handle an overvoltage of up to 1,000 Vrms for 5 seconds. Since the USB-621x devices are bus-powered, the total current that can be drawn from the +5 V terminals and the digital outputs is limited to 50 mA.
The device monitors this total current and will reduce the voltage on all digital outputs and the +5 V terminals if the 50 mA limit is exceeded. The NI USB-6216 Multifunction I/O Device has several variations, each identified by a unique part number. Part numbers 197504-01 and 780172-01 are OEM versions, with 780172-01 being a pack of ten. The connectivity options differ among the other part numbers: 780108-01 has screw terminal connectors, 781004-01 uses BNC connectors and 780170-01 is equipped with SCSI terminal connections.
