Pickering 40-110-121 SPDT Reed Relay Module
The 40-110-121 is a 32-channel SPDT reed relay module manufactured by Pickering Electronics. Designed for low-level signal switching in industrial automation and test systems, the module ncorporates reed relays with Ruthenium-sputtered contacts. These provide stable contact resistance and reliable operation for over 1 billion cycles under low power conditions. The module features switching voltages of 150VDC/100VAC, a maximum carry current of 1A, and a maximum power rating of 3W maximum when in SPDT mode. The relay switching speed allows for incredibly fast routing of signals with a typical speed of 250µs. The low thermal-offset <10µV and low on-resistance of <500mΩ from the relays enable low power signal integrity to be maintained in sensitive applications.
Connectors on the front panel include a 96-pin male micro-D connector, in addition to interconnection points on the circuit board designed to eliminate complex wiring connections into small switching networks or to slave the operation of a relay. The Pickering 40-110-121 has an operating temperature range of +0°C to +55°C and is designed and manufactured in accordance with PXI 2.2 specifications to fit into a single 3U PXI slot.
The versatility of the 40-110-121 makes it applicable for the routing of low-level signals to external devices or solenoids, bulbs, etc. in a control scenario, or the creation of a first-stat hierarchical relay switching system. The 40-110-121 relay module provides drivers for Windows (VISA, IVI, kernel) and plant-based programming platforms such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Visual Studio, thus enabling complete integration into test systems. The module is certified according to the CE mark and standards, especially EN61010-1 for safety and EN61326-1 for EMC immunity, and is suitable for use in industry with reliability.
Another helpful feature is Pickering’s eBIRST fault detection diagnostic tools, which enable graphical identification of faulty relays to quickly replace them with little unexpected downtime. The module utilizes SoftCenter® reed relay technology to obtain a guaranteed contact performance feature, which continually maintains the performance characteristics and contact rating. Pickering has also designed in spare relays on-board for maintenance purposes. The 40-110-121 is compatible with all of Pickering’s cable assemblies and mass interconnect solutions, allowing for integration into automated test systems requiring high-density, reliable signal switching.
