Pickering 40-145-101 PXI High Density Relay Module
Pickering’s 40-145-101 is a high-density PXI relay module that contains 75 SPST normally-open electromechanical relays. The 40-145-101 was designed for use in building flexible switch networks in automated test systems. This can be used as a means of routing inputs/outputs to ports, for controlling higher-power relays, and/or to operate external equipment such as solenoids and indicator lights. The primary purpose of this module is to provide reliable control over the routing of signals and connections within a small 3U PXI footprint while providing maximum channel density per slot in order to allow for the most cost-effective method of increasing the size of the test system.
The electromechanical relays contained in the 40-145-101 have Pd/Ru/Au contacts and are capable of delivering a typical operating time of 3 ms and a maximum switching load of 150 VDC, 1 A, and/or 60 W. The module has been designed to ensure consistency of signal quality via a minimal on-path impedance at turn-on and a maximum off-path isolation. An additional feature of this module is that it has a simple maintenance process due to its single PCB design, which utilizes leaded relays, and also includes a spare relay located onboard to minimize downtime of the test system when the module needs to be serviced.
Connecting the 40-145-101 to other components in the test system is made easy due to the presence of a front panel 200-pin female connector, for which Pickering provides a variety of mating connectors and pre-assembled cables. Additionally, the 40-145-101 is compatible with the 40-140A family of reed relay modules, allowing designers to utilize the best of both worlds. Software support is provided for this module by Pickering in the form of a complete suite of software tools, including Win32 & Win64 drivers, Linux drivers, IVI, and VISA drivers for all major development environments from National Instruments, Keysight, and MathWorks. As such, this module is well-suited for a wide variety of test and measurement applications requiring a large number of channels and where ease-of-integration into PXI- or LXI-based test systems is a necessity.
