Pickering PXI 40-183-011 Solid State Switch Module
The PXI 40-183-011 from Pickering is a high-performance two-slot PXI module that houses six independent SPST solid-state switches and has been designed specifically for the most demanding high-current switching applications. Each channel utilizes MOSFET-based relays to provide 30 amps of continuous current per channel, 40 amps when one relay per module is engaged, and can be switched at voltages up to 40 volts (DC or AC peak) with inrush currents exceeding 120 amps. As such, it is well-suited to handle the extreme hot-switching conditions present in many high-power switching applications. When operated within the rated parameters of the module, the switches are expected to have an infinite life.
The primary application areas for this solid-state switch module include automotive test systems and aerospace test systems, particularly those applications requiring the high-reliability, high-current switching of large loads such as motors, actuators and power distribution units. The ability to switch either DC or AC power, combined with the fact that the channels have no inherent polarity sensitivity, further enhances the modules flexibility. The module also integrates easily into any PXI, CompactPCI or LXI compatible chassis, allowing the user to configure their system with maximum flexibility. Also, the module has full support of all major programming languages via VISA, IVI, and kernel driver support on Windows and other real-time operating systems, and can therefore be used in a variety of development environments, including LabVIEW, Python, and MATLAB.
In addition to the support provided by the manufacturers, the module also includes support for the use of the eBIRST switching system diagnostic tool set to allow users to rapidly identify faults in their system. Dedicated connector accessories and custom cable solutions are also available to ensure that connections are made quickly and easily and that they will remain reliable. Overall, the 40-183-011 is a very versatile and reliable component for building automated test and control systems capable of high-power operation.
