Pickering 40-521-022 PXI Matrix Module
The Pickering 40-521-022 is a 2-pole PXI matrix module configured as a 24x8 high-density switching matrix that is aimed at signal routing in Functional Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and data acquisition systems. The 40-521-022 is packaged in a single-slot 3U PXI (CompactPCI) format; it is designed for signal routing in PXI and LXI chassis, and it can also be installed in any system conforming to PXI Specification 2.2.
The 40-521-022 is designed around high-reliability ruthenium-sputtered reed relays with more than a billion operations at low power loads, and over five million operations at full power. The relays have stable contact resistance and long life, even when used in demanding test environments. Spare relays are included on board for simple in-field repair.
The module can switch voltages to 150VDC or 100VAC, with a power handling of 10W, and switch currents to 0.5A, making it suitable for a selection of low to moderate power signal switching applications. The operate and release times are under 1ms, which is beneficial for signal routing and test cycle times.
The thermal offset characteristics are less than 10µV differential in the 2-pole configuration. There are 96 pins overall on the module, which connects via a micro-D front panel connector, and utilizes a standard PXI backplane interface running at 33MHz over a 32-bit bus. This PXI switch is compatible with most popular programming environments, with full support for VISA, IVI, and kernel drivers.
The 40-521-022 is supported by Pickering's eBIRST diagnostic tools, allowing you to quickly test which relay has failed, if any. It is a compact and modularly scalable configuration, achieved by daisy chaining multiple modules together to create larger size matrices.
